Barks and Books
This canine-assisted read aloud program is a class where children read aloud to a trained therapy dog. The dog is a patient listener who offers unconditional love and acceptance, allowing your child to practice reading aloud without fear or criticism. The Barks and Books Program will meet every Thursday for 45 minutes. We will start on June 12th and meet every week until August 7th. NO CLASS ON 7-3-25. Class will start at 3:30 and end at 4:15. During that time we will begin with a whole group read and then have the children find a spot and start reading to the dog. The last few minutes of class we will interact with some of our shelter puppies/kittens. We ask that the children be in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th grade.
The program is limited to 10 children, and we ask for a donation of $80.00 to have your child participate.
